TIER 1 Post Study Work Visa
The following information is given in order to provide you with a generalised overview of the criteria required for the Tier 1 (Post Study Work) visa. However if you wish for us to assess whether you qualify for the Tier 1 (Post Study Work) visa, or you wish to engage our services and/or require further information regarding this particular application, please complete the 'Contact Box' on this page to enable a member of our team to contact you and advise you further.
The Tier 1 (Post Study Work) route will close from April 2012, as a result of this it is important as soon as an individual meets the Tier 1 (Post Study Work) criteria they should apply immediately.
The Tier 1 (Post Study Work) category aims to retain the most talented international graduates who have studied in the UK.
If an application is successful the individual will be free to seek employment without a sponsor for the period of their leave under this category. The individual will receive a single grant of leave to remain in the UK for two years.
In order to qualify under the Tier 1 (Post Study Work) category an individual will need to obtain 75 points in the attributes section as well as 10 points for English language and 10 points for maintenance. The points are obtained in the following way:
-
Attributes: If the individual has been awarded a minimum of a UK bachelor's degree and studied for the eligible award at a UK institution that is a UK recognised body and the period of UK study towards their eligible award was undertaken whilst they had entry clearance or leave to remain in the UK, that was not subject to a restriction preventing them from undertaking a course of study and the application for entry clearance or leave to remain as a Tier 1 (Post Study Work) is made within 12 months of obtaining the eligible award.
-
English language: If the above point is met the individual will meet the English language requirement.
-
Maintenance: If the application is submitted in the UK, the individual must have £800.00 of available funds which must be held for a consecutive 90 day period before the date of application. If the individual is submitting their application from outside of the UK they must have £2,800 of available funds which must have been held for a consecutive 90 day period before the date of application.
