The following information is given in order to provide you with a generalised overview of the criteria required for the sports visit visa. It is imperative if an individual wishes to enter the UK on a sports visitor visa the individual must meet one or more of the criteria below:

1.    To take part in a specific event, tournament, or series of events;

2.    To join an amateur team as an amateur sportsperson;

3.    Make a personal appearance or take part in a promotion such as a book signing or television interview;

4.    To negotiate a contract or discuss a sponsorship deal;


5.    To take part in a trial (which must not be in front of an audience, either paying or non-paying);

6.    To do a short period of training, as an individual or as part of a team;

7.    A member of the technical or support staff of an amateur or professional sportsperson and the individual is attending the UK with them for the same event or series of events;

8.     An official attending a sporting event or series of events.
