Senior Legal Counsel
London
Based at their regional headquarters in central London Hess has a vacancy for a legal counsel with primary responsibility for legal matters supporting the Global New Business Development (GNBD) group. The work has a strong emphasis on acquisitions and dispositions in the oil and gas industry and will be supplemented by other international exploration and production legal work.
Duties include active participation in a multi-disciplined team for acquisitions and dispositions (headed by GNBD and including Legal, Tax and Finance Department representatives) and taking a lead role in due diligence reviews, major contract negotiations and drafting and completion of complex legal transactions. The role will report to the Deputy General Counsel (Worldwide E&P) based in London and be under the direct supervision of the Associate General Counsel based in Houston who has general responsibility for support of the GNBD group.
Applicants for this role must be qualified in the UK or US with at least 5 years pqe in corporate and/or energy law. It is essential that applicants have a strong track record in contract negotiation and have excellent drafting skills. There may be some travel involved.
