The following information is given in order to provide you with a generalised overview of the criteria required for the marriage visit visa. However if you wish for us to assess whether you qualify for the marriage visit visa, or you wish to engage our services and/or require further information regarding this particular application, please complete the ‘Contact Box’ on this page to enable a member of our team to contact you and advise you further.

Individuals entering the UK on a marriage visit visa must meet the following criteria. In the event they do not, the likelihood of their application being successful would be extremely low. It should be noted even if an individual meets the criteria below, but the documentation they provide does not reflect the same then the likelihood of the marriage visit visa application being granted would be extremely low.

The criteria that the individual needs to meet are that:
  • They are 18 years of age or over;
  • They intend to visit the UK for no more than six months, and to leave the UK at the end of their visit;
  • They intend to give notice of marriage or civil partnership, or marry or form a civil partnership, in the UK while they will be here;
  • They can meet the cost of the return or onward journey; and
  • They are not in transit to a country outside the common travel area.
The individual must also show that:
  • They  have enough money to support and accommodate themselves without working in the UK or receiving UK public funds;
  • They must be able to produce satisfactory evidence of their arrangements for giving notice of marriage or civil partnership, or for their wedding or civil partnership to take place, in the UK while they are in the UK.
