Clients Clients come to us to fill their vacancies quickly, routinely and in a cost effective manner. We have a broad and loyal range of clients with whom we have dealt for many years. Our recruiters have also been with us for a long time and developed a detailed understanding of their clients’ needs and established an extensive network of candidates what we can call on to fill positions as they arise. The following are factors that clients have told us are important to them when choosing a legal recruitment consultancy:


Market and Salary Information

Whenever you are recruiting it is essential to know whether you are going to be flooded with highly qualified applicants or struggle to find someone. Are you competitors looking for the same candidates and if so how do you make sure your business recruits the best candidates are the expense of your competitors? As we have a broad client base we know what is happening in the marketplace and can advise you on the best way to approach this and also to advise on the appropriate salary. Candidates are normally drawn to a role because of the challenges or other factors rather than simply the basic salary. It is important that these factors are brought to the fore otherwise the only point of negotiation is cash.

Testing

Selecting candidates is a difficult area and it is easy to rely on the wrong information. First impressions are not always right and relying on these can lead to poor hires. Relying on inappropriate tests can rule out the best candidates or be discriminatory. For example is testing typing speed an accurate reflection of how a legal secretary will perform in the workplace and could the random use of this test even breach the Equality Act? We have advised many clients in designing their interviewing and selection procedures and coaching their interviewers on how to structure their interviews and develop a competency based framework or build in psychometric testing. Many our clients now have their own testing procedures and we run many of these on their behalf to screen out candidates at an early stage saving our clients time and money.

Clients are under increasing pressure to ensure that not only do they not discriminate but to also become more diverse employers. As suppliers of staff we have our part to play. We obviously have detailed equal opportunities policies but have chosen to go further to attract applicants from more socially diverse backgrounds.
