It is inevitable media professionals will be entering the UK to report on the London Olympics and Paralympics.

In order to ensure journalists and media professionals are granted permission not only to enter the UK but to allow them to work in the UK as journalists and/or other media professionals, they will need to meet specific UK visa requirements.

From 1^st January 2012 the UK Border Agency has allowed applications affiliated with the UK Olympics and Paralympics to be submitted now. If the applications are submitted now the chances of the applications being determined prior to the commencement of the Olympics and Paralympics will be much higher than if the individual submits the application in the next couple of months.

It is extremely important especially for media professionals to ensure their UK Olympic and Paralympic visas are granted for the following reasons:

·        Prevent embarrassment of not obtaining the relevant UK Olympic and Paralympic visa within the required time and potentially not being able to report within the UK for the Olympics and/or Paralympics.

 

·        To ensure premium travel dates and accommodation are obtained for the journalists and/or other media professionals.
